Ramya started her career as a compete in popular TV programs! She progressed to compare and present in the hugely popular film award functions. Though she did not act in films despite many advices/suggestions from several people, Ramya started acting in movies only after her marriage and subsequent divorce. She acted in minor roles in movies like Mozhi and Mankatha.

She debuted as heroine with the movie ‘O! Kadhal Kanmani’. She continued acting in movies such as Maasu Engira Maasilamani, Vanamagan, game over, etc. Presently, she is acting in the movie Master.

In this scenario, Ramya has acted as the heroine in the movie ‘Sanga Thamizhan’ and completed shooting! This movie is based on the writer Bhrathinathan’s novel, ‘Thari’. The script is about the lives of the weavers. Samuthirakani has acted in a prominent role in this movie as a union leader fighting for the weavers’ welfare! Ramya acts as his wife.

Ramya shared in this regard: ‘Sanga Thamizhan is an important movie for me” In fact, this is the movie which triggered my film career! Velraj introduced me to director Manimaran. I was given the lead role. I was delighted indeed! The general observation is the village girls are not fair! However, actor Karunas told me that village girls are fairer, more even than me! This movie’s producer, director and the production team accord due dignity to women! I consider that I am indeed blessed to be in this movie and being associated with this team!’
