Whereas in Tamil Nadu and other southern parts of India celebrates Pongal to thank the Sun God and Lord Indra for helping farmers in getting better-yielding crops. Schools declare holidays from January 14 to 17 in Tamil Nadu on account of Pongal (harvest) festival season.
So, DMK leader M K Stalin condemned that schools shouldn't happen on the day of the festival and was criticizing the circular issued by the school education department, DMK chief M K Stalin said it was "painful" to note that the students from class nine to 12 have been asked to attend school on January 16 which is a declared holiday. With regards to this stalin trolled the ruling parting saying "we cant change the day of festivals for your inconvenience" and for this statement Stalin was trolled back saying "when you can change date of Tamil New year (April 14 to January 14) then why cant us? "
