Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo has urged voters to brave the summer heat and cast their votes and that all arrangements have been made for free and fair conduct of the April 18 Lok Sabha polls. "Though it may turn out to be a hot day, I request all voters to cast their votes. The entire election machinery is ready to hold free, fair and peaceful elections," he said.Explaining on how to operate the EVMs, and functioning of the VVPATs, Sahoo said if the green lights glows on the EVM, then it indicates the machine is ready for voting.
One should first select the candidate with the symbol marked against his name from the list displayed on the EVM and then press the corresponding blue button to vote. Immediately, the VVPAT will display whom one has voted for and the voter to verify. The print display will be on for seven seconds before falling into the slot.
