MDMK General Secretary Vaiko, who has filedhis nomination papers for the July 18 Rajya Sabha polls, on Mondaysaid it was he who suggested to the DMK to field an alternative candidate in the event of his papers being rejected. Reacting to DMK fielding Advocate N R Elango as the alternativecandidate, Mr Vaiko told reporters at Dindigul that the DMK hasallotted a seat to MDMK only for him to contest.
Since there were reports that his papers might be rejected, hesaid he had only asked Stalin to field an alternative candidate,following which Elango has filed his papers.
