Umbrella procession to Tirumala brahmotsavam begins

Tens and hundreds of devotees on Saturday participated in the sacred auspicious Umbrella procession to Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, organised by the Hindu Dharmartha Samithi Trust as part of the annual Brahmotsavam inthe hill shrine. This was the 15th edition of the event, during which 11 tastefullydecorated sacred umbrellas, would be given to the hill shrine ofTirumala after going in a procession by road, on behalf of theTamil devotees.

After conducting special pujas and chanting of vedic and religioushymns at the Chenna Kesava Perumal temple, the Umbrella processionbegan from NSC Bose Road and crossed Elephant Gate area in NorthChennai in the evening, which was considered as the most significantphase of the event.
