TN parties gear up for by-poll in 4 more constituencies

The Election Commission on Tuesday announced bypolls to four assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu on May 19, which is the last phase of polling in the Lok Sabha election. The EC announced that the bypolls for Aravakurichi, Ottapidaram (SC), Sulur and Tirupparankundram Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu would be held on May 19.

The results would be declared on May 23, when the outcome of the byelections to 18 Assembly constituencies and the general election would also be known. The last day of filing nomination for these six seats is April 29 and the last day for withdrawal of candidature is May 2.

Kundgol in Karnataka will also go for a bypoll. The bypoll was necessitated after Karnataka Municipal Administration minister and three-time MLA from the constituency C S Shivalli passed away in March due to cardiac arrest.
