The state government has announced that those who fail in exams will not be eligible for the gadget.
An official who monitors the laptop scheme, said with more than 2 lakh students studying in Class 11, Class 12 and government colleges, that includes polytechnic and engineering institutions, continuing to fail in the annual exams on an average every year, the government’s new initiative will save the exchequer to the tune of more than Rs 200 crore.
The laptops will be distributed on priority basis. The official said order of priority includes Class 12 students of academic year 2019-20, second priority will be for Class 11 students and third priority for Class 12 students who studied in the previous year.
