Tight security for Mod-XI meet

For Chinese president Xi Jingping's visit to Mamallapuram tomorrow, in Chennai over 15,000 police personnel are on security duty. Along with the city police, units such as City Crime Branch (CCB), Traffic department and Traffic Investigation, Tamilnadu Special Force, Rapid Action Force (RAP), Armed Forces (AR) and Tamilnadu Commando Force will also be on security duty.

From Chennai airport to Mamallapuram, cultural programmes will be conducted at multiple places since Chinese President Xi Jingping will travel by road. Schools on ECR and OMR are likely to be closed, while IT staff will be asked to work from home, since traffic restrictions will be in place.

A Coast Guard ship is stationed off the Shore Temple in Mamallapuram and more than 5,000 police personnel, drawn from various parts of Tamilnadu, have been deployed in and around the town and nearby places including the Old Mahabalipuram Road and the East Coast Road as part of security measures.

Behind the shore temple, while a CG ship has been stationed at a distance, another one was spotted on patrol. the two top leaders, dozens of temporary police outposts have been set up in and around the town which will be under the watch of 800 CCTV cameras.
