Following a surge in corona numbers in Tamilnadu and especially in Thanjavur, the Big Temple in Thanjavur has been closed for public entry. Archaeological department has ordered the closure. Only daily Pooja, will be performed by priests at the temple and no devotees will be allowed.
Remember even during outbreak of first wave off covid, the temple was closed. Devotees who turned up at the temple were denied entry and they returned disappointed. Barricades have been kept and police are maintaining strict vigil. Reports say that on an leverage over 250 covid cased are reported in Thanjavur alone.
