The Supreme Court today refused to stay the order by Nation Green Tribunal on opening the Strelite industry in Tuticorin. It means the factory can be re-opened anytime soon. The judgement assumed significance as it kicked up a storm as leader of the opposition MK Stalin kicked up a storm in the Assembly. He blamed the government and said that they should make it their policy matter not to allow opening of Sterlite factory. The same was echoed by MDMK chief Vaiko and few other politicians.
Vaiko even said that State government is maintaining a double-standard in this regard. The State government on their part said that they will look into the issue and ensure what is good for people would be taken up.
