Smoke alarm : IndiGo flight makes emergency landing

A Kuwait-bound IndiGo flight from Chennai with about 150 passengers on board returned soon after take off and made an emergency landing at the Anna International airport after a smoke alarm went off, on Friday morning.

Airport sources said about 30 minutes after the aircraft took off at 0120 hrs, the pilot noticed that the smoke detector went off in the cargo hold and subsequently made an emergency landing.

All the passengers were safe and they were accommodated in another aircraft which left for Kuwait at around 0430 hrs. The aircraft has been grounded at the airport here forthorough checks.
