Seizure of cash: Cops file case against Kathir Anand

Police have filed an FIR against DMK's Vellore candidate for the April 18 Lok Sabha polls and two others in connection with the Income Tax raids held in the district recently. The Katpadi police filed cases against DMK’s Vellore candidate Kathir Anand and party members Poonjolai Srinivasan and Damodaran, in connection with the seizure of Rs 11.48 crore from a cement godown in Nadumottur village in Katpadi region by Income Tax officials.

A case has been filed under section 125 (A) of Representation of Peoples Act 1951 and sections 171 (B) (2), 171 (E) of the Indian Penal Code and for filing false affidavits and attempting to bribe the voter. Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo said on Tuesday that a report based on the FIR would be sent to the Election Commission. He added that the poll panel would take a decision on the election in Vellore based on that report.
