Rajinikanth and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan have been invited to attend the first death anniversary event of former chief minister M Karunanidhi 7 August, during which a statue of the DMK patriarch will be unveiled. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will unveil the statue of the leader at the Murasoli office at Kodambakkam in Chennai. The event is organised by official DMK party organ Murasoli.
The invitation to both Rajini and Kamal has surprised many. Rajinikanth is planning to start a political party and Kamal already has Makkal Needhi Maiam and fought against the DMK in the last Lok Sabha elections. Inviting both of them has certainly spelt surprise. Whether they would go and attend is a million dollar question. Some say it is a political move by the DMK. One has to wait and see what happens after statue unveiling. Remember Murasoli came up with articles condemning both the actors.
