As part of Coast Guard Week celebration on the occasion of 43rd Raising Day of Indian Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Ships were open for visit for school children. A total of 214 and 420 children from different schools visited on board ICGS Sagar and ICGS Shaurya on the first and second day respectively. During the visit, the children were taken for a walk around the ship, enlightening them with key points, specialities, functions of every part of ship, said a release from Press Information Bureau's defence section.
The children were very keen and enquired about the operations and other specifications of the ship which were well resolved by Coast Guard officials. Photo board, display equipments, firefighting and armament display were demonstrated on the helo deck. Video clippings and slideshows were shown in the helo hangar to the children followed by refreshments. The visit ended with a mime show on creating awareness about ‘Child Abuse and Concern for Environment’ by a group of student volunteers.
Meanwhile, SRM Institute of Science and Technology organized 'Butterflies', an event under the UNNAT BHARAT ABHIYAN-sports and cultural competition for school students. Butterflies took off as a vision to help the government school students to aim higher in their lives and make a difference. It was a day full of emotions and enthusiasm for thesebudding young minds of the state of Tamil Nadu as SRM IST organizes its 11th edition of Butterflies, said a press release.
A total of 915 students participated in this jamboree. Multiple events were organized with the aim to make this one of the best days of their lives, for it’s believed that with love and passion, anybody can be motivated to build themselves a secure and happy future.
