Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Satyabrata Sahoo today said counting of votes at all the centres will be recorded and the results can be viewed in the ECI website or mobile app. Speaking to reporters in Chennai, he said 88 observers will be monitoring the counting in the State. He added that 19 company paramilitary forces will be deployed for security.

"The VVPAT will be taken for counting only after the votes in the EVMs are counted," he said. As per procedure, postal ballots would be the first to be counted. Out of 18 lakh registered voters, 16.49 lakh have sent their postal ballots to their respective returning officers as on 17 May.

The entire exercise of EVM-Paper trail machine matching will take an additional four to five hours. Though there are 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamilnadu, elections were held only for 38 seats after the Election Commission (EC) rescinded the polling for the Vellore seat following seizureof large amount of cash.
