Rajiv case convict Robert Pyas moves HC seeking parole

Robert Pyas, one of the seven life convicts in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, on Thursday moved the Madras High Court seeking one month parole to make arrangements for his daughter's wedding.

In his petition, Robert Pyas said his 29-year-old daughter Tamizhco was living in The Netherlands and wanted to make arrangements for her wedding and sought 30 days parole (Ordinary leave).

When the petition was taken up for hearing, A Division Bench of Justices M M Sundresh and RMT Teeka Raman ordered notices, returnable by two weeks, to DIG Prisons and Superintednet Puzhal Prison, where Robert Pyas was lodged.

It may be recalled that S Nalini, who was also one of the life convicts, was granted parole for 51 days by the High Court to make arrangements for her daughter's marriage.
