Rajini's words about Rahul surprises many

Superstar Rajinikanth has said while a wave of support helped Prime Minister Narendra Modi win a second consecutive term in office in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll, an opposing tide stalled the BJP at the borders of Tamil Nadu, enabling the DMK alliance to post a sweeping victory.

Speaking to reporters, he said, "In Tamil Nadu, it was an anti-Modi wave. In politics, if a wave begins to sweep, those who stand against it cannot win. Politicians who rode the wave have won."
He opined that issues such as hydrocarbon extraction, NEET, the Opposition's whirlwind campaign, could have gone against the BJP in Tamil Nadu. “In India, after Nehru, Indira Gandhi was a charismatic leader, Rajiv Gandhi, Vajpayee, were also such leaders.

In Tamil Nadu, Kamaraj was a charismatic leader. The election victory for the BJP is a victory for Modi's leadership,” he said. Rajinikanth advised Rahul Gandhi not to resign as the Congress president. "He is a capable leader and so should not resign," said he.
