Public exams for Class V and VIII? Parents, students shocked

The state government which took back no detention policy till Class VIII on Friday announced that board exams for Classes V and VIII will be held at the end of 2019-20. As of now, in-principle approval has been given to conduct board exam for these classes. The modalities including timetable and procuring answer scripts will be worked out later, school education secretary Pradeep Yadav said.

The announcement has shocked parents and students. Making them take up public exams at such a young age is not right, say many parents. This will make them exam-oriented at young age in their life.

MaNy say that the directorate of government examinations is already conducting board exams for X, XI and XII. This will be additional burden, say a few. If public exams are held so early, school dropouts will be more, say educationalists.
