As per the new changes in the Free and Compulsory educational policy of Tamilnadu, a change has been brought about by the government. They have decided to hold public exams in 5th and 8th standards. The School Education department has reportedly said the change comes to effect immediately. However what is not specified is whether those who fail in the examinations would be asked to study in the same class without promotion. Sources say that government would take a decision in this regard very soon.
