Police files case against Nellai Kannan

Cases have been filed under three sections against Tamil orator Nellai Kannan for making 'provocative' remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah at an anti-CAA protest meeting organised by the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in Tirunelveli recently.

Velmurugan of the Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi and State chief of the SDPI, Nellai Mubarak were present on the occasion. No sooner his hate speech went viral in social media, the State unit of the BJP filed a police complaint seeking action against Nellai Kannan.

In his police complaint, BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathi alleged Kannan called out the names of Prime Minister and Home Minister at the meeting. He alleged that Kannan, in his remarks at the meeting, slammed Modi and Shah duo for bringing the Citizenship Amendment Act.
