The election manifesto of the Paataali Makkal Katchi (PMK) for the general elections to the Lok Sabha was released by the party's founder S Ramadoss today. The party's youth wing leader, former Union Minister and Dharmapuri MP Anbumani Ramadoss, state president G K Mani and other leaders were present. The PMK is facing the polls from the AIADMK alliance, in which the BJP, DMDK and TMC among others are also partners. The PMK has been given seven seats in the alliance.
Some of the highlights of the manifesto are:
1 Appointing officials who know Tamil language at the Indian embassy in countries with Tamil speaking majorities.
2. Demand for the formation of Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) with regional offices in Chennai.
3. Bringing back ballot system in elections to conduct in a fair manner like in developed countries.
4. Bringing multiple GST taxes into one single tax. Bringing a uniform tax of 10 per cent for essential items and abolishing hidden taxes.
5. Declaring Cauvery Delta as a protected area and to permanently abandon the petrochemical zone, which has been temporarily abandoned in Cuddalore Nagapattinam district.
The PMK also vowed to protect state rights and to fight for state autonomy.
