PM Modi’s first Mann Ki Baat in 2020

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at the 61st edition of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the government's efforts to conserve water, Khelo India and Gaganyaan, among other issues.

The radio programme happened on the Republic Day, So the timing was changed from the usual 11 am to 6 pm to avoid a clash with the parade. 

PM Modi greeted the nation on Republic Day saying "Heartiest greetings to you all on the occasion of Republic Day. Today, we are here on Mann Ki Baat to discuss newer subjects, to celebrate the latest achievements of our countrymen and to celebrate India,".

Modi Stated that "Tamil Nadu came up with a very innovative idea of harnessing a borewell for rainwater harvesting. The country is full of countless stories of this kind, of water conservation, lending more strength to New India's resolve."

PM Modi also spoke about the third Khelo India Games, which concluded on January 22, this is a National programme for development of sports.

PM Modi also spoke about the violence in country, where he said that "Violence never solves a problem. No problem can be solved in the world by creating another problem. It can only be resolved by seeking an optimal solution. Come and let's establish a new India together, where every issue is resolved on a platform for peace. Solidarity should be the key to the solution of every issue. And brotherhood is supposed to seal every attempt to divide us".

PM Modi said the country has taken another step towards the Gaganyaan mission.

"Friends, you would know that four candidates have already been selected as astronauts for this mission. They are all Indian Air Force pilots. These promising youngsters symbolize the skill, talent, ability, courage, and dreams of India," he said.
