A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) wasfiled in the Madras High Court on Monday seeking to extend the once in a 40-year spectacle of Lord Athi Varadar festival at Lord Varadharaja perumal temple in Kanchipuram by another 48 days.
When the petitioner Prabharakan, who is a member of the BarCouncil made a plea, Judge P D Audikesavalu he would take it up for hearing if it was filed in the form of a petition.
The 48-day Athi Varadar fest, which began on 1 July, would end on August 17 and there would not be any darshan on that day as the Idol has to be taken back to the Ananthasaras Tankin the temple.
