Palanisami makes slew of announcements in TN Assembly

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswamion Saturday made a slew of announcements for various departments on thelast day of the ongoing Assembly session that included hike in familywelfare fund for PDS staff and allowances for differently-abled workersand increase in MLA's constituency development fund. Making a Statement under Rule 110 in the House, he said in the event ofany PDS worker dying in harness, the family welfare fund has been hikedfrom Rs two lakh to three lakh.

He also announced hike in advance to Rs 25,000 from Rs 5,000, to meet theimmediate needs if any PDS worker die in harness, besides hiking theallowance for differently abled workers in cooperative department fromRs 1,000 to Rs 2,500. He said in deference to the wishes expressed by the PDS workers, theirsalaries would be credited to their bank accounts directly through the ECS mode.

He also announced hike in the MLA's constituency development funds fromRs 2.5 crore to Rs three crore.Palaniswami said November one will be celebrated as Tamilnadu Day,besides announcing construction of a memorial for legendry actorThiyagaraja Bhagavathar in Tiruchi at a cost of RS 50 lakh and translationof tamil couplet Thirukkural in Assamese language this year.
