Hours after TNCC Chief K S Alagiri claimed enough seats were not allotted to his party in the recent polls to rural local bodies and alleged the DMK had violated the coaltion dharma, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram exuded confidence that the DMK would allot adequate seats in the indirect polls for rural posts.
Batting for the continuance of the alliance, he told reporters that time was not still lost and he was hopeful that the DMK would earmark more seats for his party.
Stating that Alagiri has expressed his anguish over less seats allotted to the party, Mr Chidambaram said he expect that the DMK would allot more seats in the coming days, while asserting that the alliance continued to remain strong and it would continue.
Earlier, Alagiri alleged that the DMK had violated the coalition dharma by not allotting enough seats for the party, which in political circles was seen as a rift in the alliance.
