Athi Varadar Vaibhavam is on at Kanchipuram Sri Varadaraja Perumal temple. Devotees throng the temple town in large numbers to seek the blessings of Almighty. It is 36 days since the Athi Varadar was kept out of the temple tanks for Darshan. Many complained of long queues, no drinking water supply and poor handling by police. Last week, four devotees were killed in stampede near the temple.
Meanwhile temple officials say that over 50 lakh people have so far offered prayers to the Almighty. With 12 days to go, it is expected that the count would cross 75 lakh. Today is the fourth day of Athih Varadar Ninra Thirukolam. Special poojas were performed and floral decorations were made.
