Nirmala Devi out on hail after a year

Nirmala Devi, the prime accused in audiotape scandal case, today, came out of Central Prison in Madurai on bail after 11 months of stay there. Earlier, her advocate S Pasumpon Pandian said that all the conditions of the bail granted by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on 12 March were complied with. “Her brother Ravi and a family friend have given sureties. All documents required for the bail procedures have been submitted to the judicial magistrate court,” he said.

Pandian also complained that Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department sleuths had threatened the family and friends of Nirmala Devi against helping her to come out of jail on bail.
