Elections to the vacant seats of Vikravandi and Nanguneri Assembly constituencies will be held on 21 October, Election Commission today said. Nanguneri became vacant after Congress leader H Vasantha Kumar resigned in May and Vikravandi fell vacant in June after the demise of sitting DMK MLA K Rathamani.The elections to both seats are considered crucial for the 2021 Assembly elections is not far.
DMK has been requesting Congress to give up the seat for them this time. DMK youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin openly made an appeal in front of Congress leaders at a meet recently to ive up Nanguneri seat for them.The assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra will be held on October 21, Chief Elections Commissioner Sunil Arora said. The results of the elections will be announced on October 24, the top poll body officer said.
