Modi visits Lanka, sees church affected by bomb attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi waa in Sri Lanka Sunday as part of the second leg of his first foreign visit after re-election last month to strengthen the bilateral ties with the island nation, reflecting the importance India attaches to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.

During his day-long visit, Modi held talks with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe and Leader of the Opposition Mahinda Rajapaksa. A delegation of the main Tamil party – The Tamil National Alliance – also met Prime Minister Modi. Modi also visited the churches affected during Easter bomb attacks.
