Modi in Tirupur, Vaiko arrested for staging black flag demo

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today inaugurated the Chennai Metro Rail's services from AG-DMK to Washermenpet, via video conferencing from Tirupur. Modi also attended a mega rally of the BJP in the industrial town. MDMK general secretary Vaiko, who, along his supporters tried to show black flag to the PM, was arrested.
On Saturday, Industries Minister Sampath inspected Chennai Metro Station. He inspected the Central Metro Station for the arrangements of inaugural functions of passenger services from AG-DMS to Washermenpet and discussed with Managing Director, CMRL, Pankaj Kumar Bansal., I.A.S, Directors, and Chief General Managers regarding inaugural function arrangements.

Recently, the Commissioner of Metro Railways Safety, K A Manoharan, along with his team, had started inspecting the underground stretch of Phase 1 of Chennai Metro Rail, from AG-DMS to Washermanpet. Sources said the inspection was successfull following which services have commenced on the stretch, linking the northern parts of Chennai with other parts of the city.
This stretch in the Blue Line of the Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 1 will be the last section of the 45 km alignment.

Several civil, operations and system readiness namely OHE height and stagger measurement, Demonstration of fire hydrant at Ramp Area, Demonstration of TVS Jet fans, Ramp Sump pump Inspection and Overview, Measurement of Schedule of Dimensions (SODs), Gauge, level and clearance measurement at every 200m intervals, Demonstration ofPassenger Emergency Telephone (PET), Public Announcement (PAP) and Passenger Information Displays (PIDS), Lifts and Escalators, HV room and M05 room to name a few were inspected during the two day inspection.
