Mani Ratnam’s two TV series based on famous novels

Ace filmmaker Maniratnam has been the pioneer in pushing the experience of audiences to a greater level. It wasn’t just restricted with the movies alone, but he completely changed the concept of TV serials too. He has produced four TV serials titled Panchavarnam, Anbulla Sneghidhiye, Punnagai and Ganesh & Vasanth.

Among these 4 serials, Ganesh & Vasanth was based on the books written by Late writer Sujatha, which had these characters as main protagonists. It was nothing but a faint inspiration from Sherlock Holmes, which has Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson as the major characters. On the other hand, Anbulla Sneghidhiye was inspired from the most celebrated novel ‘Sisters of my heart’ written by Chitra Banerjee. While Ganesh & Vasanth was directed by Suhasini Maniratnam and V. Priya, the other one was completed helmed by the latter. It is really nice to look back and see that Mani Ratnam has created revolution in not just big screens, but across the world of small screen as well.
