Maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam has been rigidly working on his ambitious film ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, which is based on the epic book. The film has an ensemble star-cast comprising of Vikram, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi and many others.
The film’s first leg of shooting was wrapped up in a short span of time in Thailand. Now the portions involving Jayam Ravi and his female lead pair is being shot in Pondicherry, where Mani Ratnam has recreated some set works across the coastal areas.
It is worth mentioning that while shooting for Kannathil Muthamittal, Mani Ratnam had actually recreated the Ceylon backdrops for few episodes that involved bomb blast in Pondicherry.
