A statue of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi was unveiled atthe office of DMK Party organ 'Murasoli' in the city tomark his first death anniversary. West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banjeree unveiled the statue in the presence of Karunanidhi's son and DMK President M K Stalin andPuducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, among others.
The statue depicts Karunanidhi, who was also a veteranjournalist, sitting and writing with a pen. Later, mamata accompanied by Stalin and senior DMKleaders paid tributes at the memorial of Mr Karunanidhiand his political mentor C N Annadurai on the Marina beachfront. Later, Mamata Banerjee, Narayanasamy participated ina memorial public meeting, which the alliance party leadersof the DMK also attended.
