Madras Varsity students join protests on CAA, holiday declared

After protests by student organisations andsome institutions, including the IIT-Madras and Loyola College, the anti-Citizenship Amendments Act (CAA) stir  found its way into the University of Madras campus, resulting in holiday declaration by the management for a week, giving students anextended holiday already declared for Christmas and New year.

About 60 students launched a 48-hour sit-in protest inside the campus following which a police team entered the campus to pacify the students.A T Elakkiyan, a second year M.A. Political Science student, who is leading it, said two students were in custody of the police.
