Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M K Stalin today started the process of interviewing party members who filed applications to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. At the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam in Chennai, Stalin, accompanied by DMK treasurer Durai Murugan and former Union Minister T R Baalu, interviewed the aspiring contestants. Also, Stalin today held discussions with a Congress team to identify the 10 seats in which the national party would contest in the DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin recently sprang a surprise in Tamil Nadu political arena, by inviting ideas from the public for his party's Lok Sabha elections manifesto. He said in a tweet: "Do you have ideas & dreams for our Tamilnadu? Would you like them to be a part of the election manifesto of the DMK? We are keen on hearing you." Stalin, who is the Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly, added: "Do send your ideas to [email protected] & #DMKmanifesto2019 Let’s together serve our great state!"
Stalin said his party has concluded the seat-sharing agreement with all of its allies and that the process of identifying the constituencies to allot to them would start from Thursday. “We have successfully completed seat-sharing pacts with our allies. We have allotted 10 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to Congress and another 10 seats to other alliance partners. So, we will contest in the rest of the 20 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls,” Stalin said after signing the poll pact with Vaiko’s MDMK at the party headquarters.
