Lalithaa jewellery robbery : Police arrests Thiruvarur man

Exactly 72 hours after burglars struck at Lalithaa Jewellery store in Trichy, a middle-aged man involved in the robbery has been arrrested by the police in Thiruvarur. Late on Thursday during a police check of the main roads in the district, Manikandan was caught as he attempted to flee along with Suresh. According to reports, the duo was riding a bike and failed to stop at a vehicle check in the Vilamal area of Thiruvarur.

The police gave chase and nabbed them near Manappuram. While pillion rider Suresh escaped, Manikandan was caught and taken to Trichy, 100 km away. Diamond, gold and platinum jewels worth Rs 13 crore from the Lalitha Jewellery Mart was robbed in the early hours of Wednesday after gaining entry into the showroom by drilling a hole in the wall. Police formed seven special teams to arrest the burglars.Further enquiries are on and more arrests will be made.
