Following the grand success of 'Kaithi' that was released for Diwali, the expectations for 'Thambi' were on high notes. Especially, the film had lots more reasons to gain more attention, among which Karthi and Jyotika sharing the screen space was much more spotlighting. The film's Day 1 Tamil Nadu Box Office collection happens to be Rs 1.80 Crore. And its collects 36 lakhs in Chennai City alone. With passable reviews mouting up for the movie, it is expected to have a decent progress with the forthcoming days. It is noteworthy that Kaithi released for Diwali made an opening day collection of Rs. 3.5 Crore in Tamil Nadu. The film is written and directed by Jeethu Joseph of Papanasam fame and is produced by Jyotika's brother.
