Karnataka HC Cancels Nithyananda Bail In 2010 Rape Case

On Wednesday the Karnataka High Court canceled the bail issued in 2010 rape case to the godman Nithyananda.

The order was issued by Justice John Michael D Cunha, who canceled the bail permitting the petition filed by Kuruppan Lenin. The police reportedly registered the case against Nithyananda on the basis of Lenin's complaint for various criminal offences.

The judge also ordered the court to order the arrest of the accused and to initiate a process of forfeiting the surety and bonds.

The court concluded that Nithyananda had misled the court to believe that he was working to propagate Hinduism while he was missing from the country and believed to be living abroad.
