Kannan Roundatana in Royapuram (Zine V) of the Chennai Corporation was known for immediately flooding. Whenever it rained, even it was brief, water-logged here making life difficult for people. They gave representation to their Constituency MLA and State Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar. He immediatelty followed it up and brought it to the notice of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.
It was followed by immediatre suprevision by the Chief Minister along with D Jayakumar. It was followed up with Corporation officials visiting the areas to do necessary follow-up work. Finally stormwater drains (SWDs) came up in the locality.
This has enthused people living in the neighbourhood. They thanked the Chief Minister for keeping his promise and also expressed gratitude to D Jayakumar. A resident said,'We are confident that there would be no more water-logging here now that SWDs have been constricted'.
