Kamal Haasan's fresh tweet triggers new controversy

As if the controversies that are already surrounding him for his 'Hindu terrorist' remark are not enough, Kamal Haasan has called his opponents as extremists in a fresh tweet. "Dear MNM family and fans, this is an acid test for our decorum and demeanour. Do not listen to their noises and be drawn into their violence. They are extremists who are slighted by the Truth. Naalai Namadhey!" the Makkal Needhi Maiam founder has said.

This has triggered a new controversy, as he was indirectly referring to BJP and AIADMK functionaries, who are opposed to his Hindu terrorist remark, as extremists. On Thursday, Tte Madurai bench of the Madras High Court has refused to issue a stay order on the by-election campaign of Kamal Haasan.

It quashed a petition filed by one Saravanan in this regard. Cases have been filed against Kamal across the country over his “free India’s first extremist was a Hindu” remark.
