David Williams struck the 1000th goal in Indian Super League (ISL) history as ATK pipped Chennaiyin FC 1-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
The landmark goal from the Australian came three minutes after the breather and it proved to be the difference in what was an end-to-end duel. As a result of the away victory, ATK lifted itself to the top of the table with six points from three fixtures. Chennaiyin, which is the only side yet to get on the scoresheet, suffered its second defeat of the season.
John Gregory’s men only have a solitary point to show from their first-week involvement in the league.
