Intergrated bus terminal in Vellalore

Coimbatore Vellalore to receive top class Innovative Bus Hub as like Chennai Koyambedu Dr. MGR Bus Stand.

On 24 January, Minister S P Velumani has laid down the foundation stone for the Coimbatore Vellalore Integrated Bus Terminal.

Speaking at the event, Minister SP Velumani said, "Coimbatore is South India's Manchester, it is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. The territory of Coimbatore Corporation is 257,04 square kilometers and the population is estimated to be 18,50,000 by the 2018 census. With an incoming crowd of three lakhs, the city is a busy hub for the medical, educational and industrial sectors.”
“Although the City has well-equipped bus stations in Gandhipuram, Ukkadam, Singanallur and one on Mettupalayam, the combined bus station in Vellalore with an estimated cost of Rs. 168 crore will tackle the increasing traffic congestion."

In an effort to reduce traffic in Coimbatore City due to outstations and city buses.The new bus stand would have 140 bus bays to accommodate outstation buses, 33 city bus bays, parking to accommodate 100-plus two-wheelers for parking, and another 100-odd bays for idle parking.

As far as passenger amenities involves, the bus stand would have 71 stores, seven transport company offices, 11 ATMs, two bars, three business offices and two dormitories.
