Following the heavy downpour, schools and colleges in Kancheepuram were declared a holiday on Thursday, while many areas in city and suburbs were inundated. Traffic snarls were also witnessed on many arterial roads across the city due to the rain. Within the city, several areas received heavy downpour on Thursday morning. Several districts received more than 5 cm of rain on Thursday.
The latest bulletin by the regional meteorological center stated that scattered heavy to solated rainfall is likely to occur in various parts of the State for the next four days. In Chennai, the sky will be generally overcast. Light to moderate rain is likely to occur in some areas.
