Financier Anbu Chezhiyan was investigated for more than 3 hrs in  Income Tax dept

In the wake of the controversial Income Tax raids on Tamil actor Vijay's Bigil team, Income Tax Department officials have searched 38 houses, including the residence and office of actor Vijay, film maker Kalpathi S. Akoram, and Financier Anbu Chezhiyan from Chennai and Madurai. Similarly, the actor Vijay was investigating for his salary, his asset value and investments for the film Bigil.
About Rs 77 crore was said to be seized from hideouts in Chennai and Madurai, purportedly belonging to Anbu Chezhiyan. Large number of property documents, Promissory notes, post dated cheques taken as collateral security were recovered during the search and have been seized," said the press release.

In this backdrop, financier Anbu Chezhiyan visited the Nungambakkam income tax office at 11 am yesterday. Income Tax department officials investigated him for unclaimed cash worth Rs 77 crore, property documents and jewelery.

Anbu Chezhiyan answered the questions of the Income Tax Department and related documents. The hearing lasted about 3 hours.

The Income Tax Department has stepped up the task of calculating how much tax evasion he is involved in, based on documents provided by Anbu Chezhiyan. It is reported that after the assessment, the Income Tax Department will be ordered to pay the tax and penalty for the tax evasion.
