EPS, OPS, Stalin start campaign for LS polls

Top leaders of Tamil Nadu, including Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and DMK president M K Stalin started their campaigns for Lok Sabha elections. While Palaniswami, who is the joint coordinator of the AIADMK, began his campaign in his hometown Salem, Panneerselvam, the party's coordinator, canvassed votes for his son O P Ravindranath Kumar who is contesting from Theni Parliamentary constituency.

While Stalin, the Leader of Opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly, hit the campaign trail at his father M Karunanidhi's native place Tiruvarur in Thanjavur district. In his address, Palaniswami said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the election campaign. He also said BJP is the only party that can keep the country safe and it is important that the nation is under a strong leadership.

Panneerselvam said he found nothing wrong in his son contesting the elections. "This cannot be equated with promoting dynasty politics. Anyone is free to contest elections in a democracy."Meanwhile, making a significant correction in the manifesto for 18 April elections, the Opposition DMK today promised that crop loans availed by all farmers would be completely waived. Stalin, while releasing the manifesto yesterday, had said all types of crop loans availed by small and marginal farmers would be waived.
