EPS, OPS heap rich praise on Karunanidhi

The Tamil Nadu Assembly today witnessed an unusual scene, when AIADMK seniors- Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam - heaped rich laurels on late DMK president M Karunanidhi. During the obituary motion, Palaniswami said the achievements of Karunanidhi would remain in this soil forever. "He had emerged victorious in all the elections he had contested," the CM said.

He said that Karunanidhi gave many good schemes for the benefit of Tamil Nadu and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam had followed it on certain occasions. His achievements are huge and unparalleled, EPS added. In his address, Panneerselvam said despite there being 1000 differences of opinion, there was no one who did not like the beautiful Tamil of Karunanidhi.
"He is the loving younger brother of Anna. Beyond political differences, Karunanidhi had affection on both MGR and Jayalalithaa," Panneerselvam said.

Recalling that it was Karunanidhi who gifted the right of hoisting the natinoal flag on Independence Day to Chief Ministers, Panneerselvam said Karunanidhi was the senior most leader of India and fought for social justice. OPS added: "Karunanidhi had a deep love on Tamil. He functioned in various spheres, including media, literature and poetry. He contributed a lot to these sectors."
