The who's who of Tamil Nadu political and cinema worlds attended the wedding of superstar Rajinikanth's younger daughter Soundarya with entrepreneur-actor Vishagan Vanangamudi in Chennai today.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, MDMK general secretary Vaiko, former Union Minister M K Alagiri, ace director Mani Ratnam among others took part in the wedding and greeted the couple. The wedding was a traditional Hindu affair with priests performing rituals. The couple looked gracious in veshti-sattai and silk saree. Dhanush, the first son-in-law of Rajini, was also present at the event. Rajini on Sunday called on Palaniswami and invited him to his Soundarya's wedding. The meeting took place at the CM's residence at Greenways Road in the city. Speaking to reporters later, the superstar said Palaniswami assured him that he would attend the wedding.
Pre-wedding celebrations started on February 8. Recently, just days after S Thirunavukkarasar was dropped from the post of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, Rajinikanth called on him, paving way for various speculations in Tamil Nadu political arena. Adding more spice to the guessing games was the presence of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi president Thol Thirumavalavan at Thirunavukkarasar's residence at Anna Nagar in Chennai, when the superstar went there. However, the air was cleared soon when it was stated that Rajini went there to invite Thirunavukkarasar for Soundarya's wedding and Thirumavalavan's presence there at that time was just a coincidence.
Also, Thirunavukkarasar too has said he would not quit Congress and join the political party to be floated by Rajinikanth. "He will invite me to his party. And, even if he invites me, I won't join. I will continue in Congress," Thirunavukkarasar said.
