Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) yesterday lodged a complaint with the city police demanding action against actor Rajinikanth for his recent comments critical of Rationalist leader Periyar.
The members of DVK met Commissioner of Police Sumit Sharan and filed a complaint demanding action against the actor.
In his petition, DVK president (Coimbatore city) M Nehrudass, accused Rajinikanth of insulting Periyar in his speech at the 50th anniversaryof Tamil magazine 'Thuglak' held in Chennai on January 14.
In his address the actor spoke about how images of unclothed Lord Ramaand Sita were allegedly displayed at a rally led by Periyar in Salemin 1971, according to the petition.The petitioner demanded action under sections 153A (promoting enmitybetween different groups) and 505 (Statements conducing public mischief) of the IPC.
Demanding a public apology from the actor, Nehrudass said faiiling which DVK members would stage protests across the State.They would stage protests at theatres where the actor’s latest movie 'Darbar' was being screened and in front of his residence in Chennai.
