A crowd-funded Tamil film, Draupadi was directed by G Mohan with the starring of Richard Rishi. The film was released throughout Tamil Nadu yesterday. The film's teaser and trailer became talk of the Tamil Nadu and soon caused a lot of controversy.
In this situation, When the movie got released in cinemas, it was like a festival as the the fans welcomed the with drums and trumps. Usually this sought of celebration would be done only for big stars movies.
The film, which was made on a low budget, grossed nearly Rs 2.5 crore in the first day of its release in Tamil Nadu alone.
Draupadi is the only film to have made a profit on the first day of its release in 30 years of Tamil cinema.
