The Opposition DMK on Saturday invited applications from aspiring candidates wishing to contest the Lok Sabha elections and the bypolls to 21 Assembly seats. In a statement here, DMK General Secretary K Anbazhagan said the applications would be obtained from Party headquarters 'Anna Arivalayam' from February 25 onwards for both the Lok Sabha and Assembly bypolls, which were due, on payment of Rs 1,000 each towards the application cost.
The filled-in applications, along with a payment of Rs 25,000, for both LS and Assembly tickets, should be submitted to the Party headquarters by 1800 hrs between March one and seven, he added. Anbazhagan said the amount of Rs 25,000 would be re-imbursed to those who had sought tickets in Lok Sabha constituencies and Assembly seats allotted for the alliance partners. It may be recalled that while signing the seat-sharing agreement with its key ally Congress on February 20 for the Lok Sabha polls, DMK President M K Stalin, replying to question on the bypolls to 21 Assembly seats, said ''if it is announced, we will discuss and take a decision''.
